Technicon Design UK are searching for Skilled Design Validation Engineers, with the appropriate skillset, to support the Exterior and Interior Design teams for our prestigious UK customer based in Cheshire throughout the PEP gateways PR0 – DKM.  You will report directly to the BY Design Validation Manager. Project Start date May 2022. All candidates should be trained in Autodesk VRED & Catia V5 to a good level and have a high level of experience and hours working on these systems.

LCA training will be provided wherever required.

At present with the Covid-19 pandemic the customer is operating a work from home where possible policy. When it is safe to return to the Studios, they will expect Design Validation Engineers to work a minimum 3 days onsite per week.


Design Validation Engineering Skillsets:-

Automotive Engineering experience. Engineering Degree preferable.

Perceived Quality. Strong Engineering background.

Experienced Catia V5 Users, with a knowledge of Customers’ (upon contact we will provide this information) LCA an advantage.

Experienced Autodesk VRED user. (Paints, materials, surface reviews, gap & Red.

Putting 3D data & sections on screen, analyzing.

Virtual Reality Experience highly Advantageous.

Experience in identifying A surface issues – exterior & interior.

Good communication skills.

Conversant with Microsoft office.


These skillsets will be required to deliver the following during the gateway periods:


PR0 DR – BF (110 Weeks)

Work with Designers and Advanced Surfacing to build validation datasets.

Incorporate engineering data to supplement A surface to build complete validation dataset.

Apply materials and lighting effects in VRED to enable detailed review and analysis.

Apply quality targets and gap & rad part variation to VRED datasets.

Check surfaces and feedback to surfacing and Design any significant errors prior to surface release.

Attend and represent Design validation at relevant technical meetings.

Deliver and run data sessions (VRED) for technical review including but not limited to:-

Surface Reviews

Optical quality

Gap & Rad

Top Strak

Digi Runde

DDKM / DKM sign off

Build VR sessions and run meetings to review hardpoints and package challenges with Design.

Support Design Validation innovation and process development activities.

Support DKM manufacture with data management and release (Catia V5).

Communicate status of the project top issues to the design validation manager weekly.

Produce Imagery from VRED sessions as required.

Produce basic line drawing from VRED datasets for Design registration activities.

Support Design Validation manager with DKM supplier management and sign-off activities.
