Technicon Design are currently looking for a contract based Human Machine Interface (HMI) Project Manager to support an Automotive brief situated in our OEM in Gothenburg, Sweden.

The HMI & UX Design team is responsible for designing market-leading UI and UX within our vehicle brand. It is a true cross-functional design team where inter-disciplinary focus, curiosity and drive are highly valued. We work in close collaboration with all other design departments, as well as with Engineering and Marketing, to shape the mobility experience of the future.

 

Assignment Description

The HMI project manager plays a critical role in the development, implementation, and deployment of the HMI systems. As HMI Project Manager, you will be responsible for managing the development and implementation of human-machine interfaces (HMI) for our vehicles.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, software engineers, hardware engineers, and designers, to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality HMIs that meet customer needs and expectations

 

Responsibilities:

Plan the HMI front-end design project from start to finish. This includes defining the project scope, objectives, and timelines, defining requirements, identifying the resources required, and creating a project plan.

Manage the project team, assigning tasks, and monitoring progress. The HMI project manager also ensures that the team has the necessary resources to complete the project on time and within budget.

Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and other external partners to ensure the timely delivery of components and systems.

Communicate project status and progress with stakeholders, suppliers, and team members. This includes managing expectations, providing regular updates, addressing any concerns or issues that arise, and make recommendations for project changes as needed.

Manage project budgets and resources, including personnel, software, and hardware requirements

Conduct risk assessments and develop contingency plans to mitigate project risks

Oversee the design and development of the HMI system. This includes working closely with the design team to ensure that the interface meets the needs of the end-users, and are compliant with relevant standards and regulations related to HMI design and development.

Ensure that the HMI system is thoroughly tested and meets the required quality standards. This includes

conducting tests to identify any issues or bugs and working with the development team to resolve them.

Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the integration of HMI systems into the vehicle’s architecture and to resolve technical issues, and ensure the final deployment of the HMI system is operational.

Monitor industry trends and best practices in HMI design and development and recommend improvements to design processes and tools

 

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as engineering, computer science, or business

At least 5 years of experience from working in or near HMI design and development, preferably within the automotive industry

Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects stakeholders, seek alignment and set direction.

Knowledge of project management tools and methodologies

Strong leadership skills, with the ability to lead a cross-functional teams towards a clear goal

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate design content, technical information, and risks to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Experience with HMI design and development tools and software, such as Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, Blender, etc.

Strong problem-solving skills and decision-making skills, with the ability to quickly identify and address project issues

Familiarity with relevant standards and regulations

Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

Experience with agile project management methodologies

 

This is a contract role – initially for a fixed time frame. There may be scope to extend the duration following the successful completion of the initial time frame. Occasional travel to China will be required (2-3 per year) to visit our company sites HQ.
